August 5 to 21, 2014Last update: 9 April, 2014

The Helsinki Summer School courses are held on the campuses of our three course organisers: University of Helsinki, Aalto University and Hanken School of Economics. The courses arranged by the University of Helsinki are held on the city center campus or in Viikki campus, located about 9 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki. The campuses of the Aalto University School of Economics and the Hanken School of Economics are both located in Töölö, close to downtown Helsinki. The Otaniemi campus of the Aalto University, designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, is located in Espoo, which is about a 15-minute bus ride from downtown.

The essential HSS 2014 Locations can be found from this HSS GoogleMap.

HSS Info Desk

HSS Info Desk is open daily throughout the entire Summer School session. The Info Desk is located on the second floor of the main building of the University of Helsinki’s city centre campus. Our Info Desk staff will be happy to help with any questions you might have. Whether you need help with registration, are not sure how to get a library card, or want to know what’s going on around Helsinki, we are here to help. The Info Desk also provides material about the universities and tourist information about Helsinki. In addition, we publish a daily Info Desk newsletter, which keeps you up to date on the HSS social programme, lists various events and happenings in Helsinki, and includes lots of other useful information.

All Helsinki Summer School students will have access to our extranet service. You’ll receive your own username and password, which will give you access to a wide range of detailed information about your course, the facilities, social programme, and life in Helsinki.

Computer Facilities

Helsinki Summer School provides a wide range of comprehensive computer services. Each student will receive a computer licence and an e-mail account, as well as a printing quota of 500 copies. Students also have unlimited access to the extensive computer facilities at the Aleksandria Learning Centre. After paying a small deposit, you’ll get a key card allowing you 6-24 access to the centre, which is located right next to the HSS office. Students will also be able to book online group work facilities at Aleksandria.

Upon request, students will be issued a certificate of attendance allowing them to borrow books from the Helsinki University Main Library. The library is located at the Kaisa House, next to the Aleksandria Learning Centre. The libraries at the universities of Helsinki and the Helsinki City Library are also open to Helsinki Summer School students.

Eating at the Student Cafeterias

Helsinki Summer School students may eat at student cafeterias at any of the participating campuses.

HSS students are entitled to use the gym and participate to the group training session in the UniSport at the University of Helsinki at a special low price.
