Welcome to Helsinki Summer School 2012, the learning experience of a lifetime!

This year we celebrate and participate in the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 by offering a number of design related courses.

Helsinki Summer School is a three-week academic event organised every August by the universities in Helsinki Metropolitan area. Each year we give advanced degree students from over 60 countries an unforgettable experience that combines high quality academics with a wide range of cultural and social activities. Our multidisciplinary courses, all of which are taught in English, aim at stimulating thought and intellectual development in an open and diverse environment. At Helsinki Summer School, the rich academic, cultural and social resources of this vibrant city all become part of the classroom experience.

This summer we will be offering twentytwo fully credited courses covering a wide range of academic fields - from Cognitive Neuroscience to Design and the City to Change and Continuity in Russian and Eastern European Development. All of our courses are designed to challenge and inspire you in any field that holds your interest. In Helsinki, a city known for design, technology and a vibrant cultural life, you’ll discover the perfect environment for studying, making new friends and having fun!

Finland is one of the most research-intensive and academically competitive countries in the world. In addition to the courses organised by HSS, Helsinki’s universities offer Master’s Degree programmes in English in virtually all academic fields.
