Our courses are intended for advanced Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and PhD students. Applicants should have completed at least two years of university studies. Helsinki Summer School is open to students from all over the world, and each year we have participants from over 60 different countries.

All courses are taught in English. Although applicants are not required to present an official certificate of language proficiency, students will have to be fluent in English in order to follow the teaching and participate in classroom discussions.

Please see the individual course descriptions for more detailed enrolment requirements.

Helsinki Summer School is open to students from all over the world. Most of our participants come from other European universities, but HSS has welcomed students from as far away as South Africa, Brazil, Australia and South Korea.

Finnish students are also welcome to apply to Helsinki Summer School. Applications should, however, be submitted as early as possible, as we can only accept a limited number of Finnish students (5-15 per course). Students will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

Exchange students enrolled at Finnish Universities are also welcome to apply. If you are studying in one of the Helsinki Summer School Universities in 2013, you will receive a discount on the fee. There are a limited number of places available for exchange students.

Helsinki Summer School also accepts a limited number of applications from professionals.
